Pumpkin Cat Crochet Pattern

Supplies/materials:

Poly-fil stuffing, scissors, 3.75 mm crochet hook, plastic yarn needle, metal yarn needle, hot glue gun with glue, medium weight yarn (black, orange, pale pink, brown), 7 mm green cat safety eyes



Key:

ch = chain

sc = single crochet

1 sc = one single crochet in each stitch until end of round

2 sc = two single crochet in each stitch until end of round 

ss = slip stitch

1 dc = double crochet

(x) = the number of stitches you should have after finishing each round

Dec = decrease stitch


Head/body:

*Rounds; black yarn

1. Create a 6 sc ring (6)

2. 2 sc (12)

3. 2 sc, 1 sc (18)

4-5. 1 sc (18)

6. 2 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc (24)

7. 1 sc (24)

8. Dec, 1 sc, 1 sc (18)

*Insert safety eyes and fill head with poly-fil

9. Dec, 1 sc (12)

10. Dec (6)

*Switch to orange yarn

11. 2 sc (12)

12. 2 sc, 1 sc (18)

13-17. 1 sc (18)

18. Dec, 1 sc (12)

*Fill body with poly-fil

19. Dec until bottom is closed.

*When you cut the yarn, make sure to leave about a 12 inch tail to work with to create the lines on the pumpkin body. Use your metal yarn needle to stitch in 3 lines on the front of the body and 3 on the back of the body. Pull the yarn tight each time you go in and out to create the pinched shape of a pumpkin.


Legs:

*Rounds; black yarn

1. Create a 6 sc ring (6)

2-3. 1 sc (6)

4. 2 sc in the first, second and third stitches, then end the round (9)

*Use black yarn to stitch legs to body


Arms:

*Rounds; black yarn

1. Create a 5 sc ring (5)

2-4. 1 sc (5)

*Use black yarn to stitch arms to body


Tail:

*Rounds; black yarn

1. Create a 4 sc ring (4)

2-11. 1 sc (4)

*Use black yarn to stitch to body. Optional: Before stitching to body, insert jewelry wire or pipe cleaner to give shape to the tail, then stitch to body.


Ears:

*Rounds; black yarn

1. Create a 3 sc ring (3)

2. [2 sc, 1 sc] five times total (8)

*Use black yarn to stitch to head


Pumpkin cap:

*Rounds; orange yarn

1. Create a 5 sc ring (5)

2. 2 sc (10)

*Use hot glue to attach to head


Pumpkin cap stem:

*Rounds; brown yarn

1. Create a 3 sc ring (3)

2. 1 sc (3)

3. 2 sc, 1 sc, 1 sc (4)

*Use hot glue to attach to cap
